Oki so where do i start... Dream High was NOT priotrity in my list of dramas for 2011, but merely an option which i chose coz Kim Hyun Soon was in it & also as a way to kill time till Paradise Ranch is released. But as they say "The BEST things in life happen when you LEAST expect it!" & watching dream high was DEFFINITELY one of them!
This drama's actually part High School Musical / part Step Up / & part Glee, where its lot more interesting then HSM, less sophisticated than Step Up, & far better cast & entertainment than Glee (& i actually LIKED all 3 of them!) I watched the first 10 episodes of DH at a stretch within 2 days! & in much less than 4days i managed to watch all 16 episodes WHILE having to go to work on 2 of those days! now THAT my friends is what we call an ADDICTION! i didnt even bother so much about my meals coz every minute i 'waste' on other things was like living in a new kind of hell away from my precious "Kirin High" friends............. & what surprised me the MOST was that by the 13th episode or so i was ALMOST considering it bieng in No.1 place surpassing Goong!!!! :O !!!!
BUT the last episode thankfully made sure that That didnt happen... but still its a mere 0.1% away from being on top... Goong still held the No.1 spot due to the cuteness of Beegung & Taeja as a couple, but then again if Pil Suk & Jason had been the main characters Goong wouldnt even have THAT to its advantage!
Regardless of the cast, with the exception of the teachers & Soo Hyun, being complete amateurs as they are all musicians and not actors, they did a rather SPLENDID job! Specially IU (Pil suk) & Taecyeon (jin Guk)! but what made Dream High REALLY & truly special, was its plot, flow & character build up!
"HYE MI" wasnt your average K-drama femal protagonist, who is a lil crazy, totally adorable & abslutly lovable, oh NO! she was anything BUT! she was arrogant, selfish, & totally full of herself! & EVERY1 including the viewers HATED her attitude! which for me was what made the whole thing interesting, and also made me really curious& wonder if this was actually gonna be lot more different than all other Kdramas & man was i EVER right! & as i kept watching it i was completely amazed by the gradual changes in the characters and how each one of them grew to be responsible and mature adults... its deffinetly a drama each of us could relate to, coz although we'r not all singers and dancers each of us have our own dreams & it would be simply nothing short of great if we could have the same courage as those guys in achieving it!.... but then again it IS just a drama!hehe!
I wont say much more about the plot or the big surprise, & i dont know if it would even BE a surprise to some of you who might actually guess it from the beginging but it was SURE a delight to me! :D so if you want to be completely absorbed in entertainment, curiuosity, romance, absolute CUTENESS, HOT guys & many pleasent surprises, this is SURELY 1 drama non of you should miss!!!
PS: It sure doesn't hurt to see one of our FAVORITE K-pop idols right at the beginning of the show! ;)

Princess Hours.... days, & weeks... :D
Hi all yee K-Whackos! :P missed me?! It's been QUITE a while huh?! well let's make up for lost time!.. while i was busy with.. LIFE... i however did NOT 4get about that land not too far away that we all love and cherish known as the K-drama/pop world. So what have i been in up to lately? well i took the opportunity to watch the new drama by Hyun Bin which has been a BIG hit in S.Korea in the recent past, Secret Garden, & at the same time iv been refreshing my memory of my all time favourite K-drama, Goong! Lets keep the former aside for now & focus on the later shall we?
Watching Goong / Princess hours was a WHOLE new experience all over again! why? coz, while it was just as entertaining & moving as the 1st time, there are many things which we probably never made note of the first time which really makes you pause and think for awhile when watching it again!
For me it was that I realised that this was a drama without exaggeration! Ok so the fire at the end would be a little over the top but other than that everything else seemed pretty realistic. The irony being that its as fictitious as a drama would get, what with the creation of a korean monarchy which doesnt even exist, but looking at the human aspects of it allows you to relate to each of the characters as people! this is especialy true in terms of the Role of the "Tae-ja Jeonha" aka "Lee Shin Goon", who gives just the right amount of emotion to his character which makes him seem more like a real person rather than a character in a drama! some times it may seem as if hes not really showing as much emotion in a particular situation as he's expected to... but the point is that he doesnt know HOW to!and it was truly wonderful to watch the gradual changes in his character after he meets chaegyun....all in all i found his character the most delightful to watch (the fact that hes rather tall & good looking was a BIG plus too ;) )!
But the same applies for all the character, coz each and every character was depicted with such precision that there was never any form of over-acting, and it was almost like they were INDEED part of a royal family! :D
Other than the undoubted talent of the cast starting from the "Beegung" to the "Great Queen" all the way down to the "sang gongs" (i hope i got that right) aka the maids in waiting, what gave the story more depth is the fact that when it really comes down to it there really was no negative character here unlike other dramas. This is because we're artfully given a bit of insight in to the lifes of each character, hence making them seem as average humans with their own reasons behind each of their actions; "Hyorin" with her hidden background, "Yul Goon" with his pitiful situation, & even his mother the "Tae-hu mama" has her own twisted reasons for being the way she is!
I think the reason there was so much depth in this drama was mainly because it was based on a book/manhwa and therefore the cast and crew probably had a better understanding of it, ultimately leading to a more fuller & richer viewing experience to us all! Another good example for such a drama would be BOF which is also based on a manga & is without a doubt a favourite of all K-drama lovers!
.............. omoooo this is probably the most SERIOUS review i have so far posted!!! Sorry if its too dull & boring guys! :( i Promise to make things more interesting in the future!
PS: Checkout few of my favourite lines from the drama..
1.
Beegung: if we meet again in 2.5 million years run away from me
Yul : Why?
Beegung: Coz even in 2.5million i would still only like Shin...
Yul: Then even in 2.5million years i'll still be waiting for you...
(Bit corny i know, but i thought it was sweet & rather sad, specially hearind dear lil Yul saying it! ;)
2.
Great Queen: When a man keeps himself as no.1 position in his heart he will only see himself... but if he takes a few steps back he will see everyone else... (really meaningful-explains the change in Shin Goons character)
Infor: Remeber the scene where at the end of episode 23 ( i think) chaegyun takes shin to visit "her world" & they walk down a crowded street where you can hardly spot them & then stop in the middle of the road & statr kissing?
Apparently that scene had been shot using hidden cameras & people hadn't known that there was a drama shooting and every1 had been shocked when suddenly two celebrities started makingout in the middle of the road! :D pretty interesting stuff huh?! Check it out

Oki so it was a real battle between this 1 and BOF for the 2nd spot on my list, but ofcorse PK wound-up as the victor! Yes plot wise BOF would be the better option, but i had to be a biase here as im HOH about KHJoongie i couldnt help but select the 1 in which he actually GETs the girl! :D Iv already dedicated an entire blog post for this one so for those of you who are still clueless i suggest you go read my 2nd post SeunJOhHaNi 1st! :)

"Seh Heh Bok Mahn Ee Bahd Euh Sae Yo"
10.
Stars Falling From the Sky :
Entertainment at its BEST! Its got Tragedy, Romance, Comedy all rolled it to one! & a bunch of REALLY cute kids who are simply hilarious which kinda puts the icing on the cake! :)
9.
Sungkyunkwan Scandal :
Set in the Joseon era... oki i really dont know what that is! but ANYWAY.. its an exciting story of a bunch of University students and their trails. Fun, Inspiring & Interesting!
Coffee Prince :
All about cross dressing, where a girl is actually mistaken for a guy and she makes use of it to build a life for herself! But what REALLY got me hooked to this drama was the romance! it really showed that Love has no boundaries! wanna know what im talking about? watch it & findout! :D
7.
World Within :
As the name itself implies it indeed IS about the the world within which most of us know nothing about. This drama's about the trials faced by individuals working at a t.v. station, their personal and professional lives, where 1 ends and the other begins! but what keeps you totally hooked is our BELOVED full house actress Song Hye Kyo & the mail lead Hyun Bin! (PSSST the secret behind their AMAZING chemistry... their a real life couple! <3)
6.
Hello! Miss :
Sick and tired of watching the female lead fall for the male lead & waiting 'forever' for the simply clueless guy to come around realize his feelings for her?! i know i was! if so this dramas like a breath of fresh! coz its JUST the opposite!! & MAN is it EVER so hilarious! Lee Dea Hee is 1 AWSOME actress! & Lee Ji Hoo & she makes 1 really great couple!
5.
My Girl :
Yet another killer drama by Lee Dae Hee! Probably even MORE hilarious than Hello!Miss, My girl revolves around a super rich guy and a ‘girl who cried wolf’, whom he hires to act as his cousin in the presence of his grandfather.
4.
Full House :
I don’t believe THIS dramas needs any special introduction nor do I see the need to point out how GREAT it truly is... coz it is WITHOUT a doubt, heard, watched and repeatedly watched by MANY a kdrama fanatic like ourselves! So let me move on with the list without further a due...
3.
Boys Over Flowers :
Omoooo what can i say... personally whats truly wonderful about this 1 is SUNBEA SUNBEA & SUNBEA!!!:D But keeping that fact aside, this has everything that would keep you hooked, a strong female protagonist, passionate male protagonist & 4 HUNKY guys! What more can u ask for!?!
2.
Playful Kiss :
Oki so it was a real battle between this 1 and BOF for the 2nd spot on my list, but ofcorse PK wound-up as the victor! Yes plot wise BOF would be the better option, but i had to be a biase here as im HOH about KHJoongie i couldnt help but select the 1 in which he actually GETs the girl! :D Iv already dedicated an entire blog post for this one so for those of you who are still clueless i suggest you go read my 2nd post SeunJOhHaNi 1st! :)

Goong/Princess Hours
This was actually a drama i came across many times but always over looked thinking there probably isn't anything too great about it! But man was "I" ever wrong!!! Other than the fact that it carries a great plot & brings out every sense of the word "DRAMA"... what made this TRULY "NO.1" was probably the superb Acting of the entire cast & the Absolutely undeniable Chemistry between the main actors!!! Im gonna watch this over and over again & im sure ill never get sick of it!!!
I'm sure not every1s gonna agree with my order of preference ;) so why not are yours & speak up as to why 'YOU' think it should be any different!

SeungJoHaNi
Omoooo...
Just Finished watching Playful Kiss...I'v gotta say its YET another HIGHLY addictive Drama by Group 8 (BOF & Goong)!!! Now how am i gonna get over this & get back to my normal life??but then again this IS as normal as my life gets!:D
Playful Kiss REALLY Surpassed its Taiwanese version!!! mainly in terms of the story coz it wasnt draggy and Oh Ha Nis character was actually CUTE rather than being plain ANNOYING like Ariels! & OFCORSE we all know how DELIGHTFUL it is to see Kim Hyun Joong again.. even if he IS frowning all the time unlike in BOF! but then again that makes that OH SO Drop dead gorgeous smile of his EVER more special!
The only downer in the drama is the chemistry... sometimes its their sometimes its just not convincing enough... i personally believe, As big a fan i am of Kim Hyun Joong, he still could improve a bit on his acting (i know he actually doesnt even LIKE acting that much, but stil)... i mean his coldness is SUPERB but when it comes to showing affection, there are time when it JUST doesnt come out right! I think he did a MUCH better job in the special editions rather than in the actual drama itself!hehe! But OMOOOO the Rain scene .. the BIg Confession... watched dat particular part THRICE & jumped up & down with joy EACH time! sigh! (hope im not alone on this 1... :D)
Thumbs up to the girl who played Oh Ha Ni! Shes gonna become 1 MUCH loved actresses for sure!
Now i cant WAIT to see what Hyun Joong's next drama will be!

A New Begining!
HiA Guys!
This is my FIRST ever post in my FIRST EVER blog! Nerveracking much?! :D So hope you will not take too harshly on any mistakes. (jeez guys cut me some slack! im just a newbie after all :P )
Ok so let me tell you a bit about what this is goin to be all about and what got me started... well answering the latter is SIMPLE... its my passion towards ALL things S.Korean! (Yes its a 'passion' like any other; music or art, those of you who believe OTHERwise might want to broaden your thought patterns a bit!) But ofcorse feel free to comment on any of the posts EVEN if you dont agree & thinks "this is total crap! what a waste of time"! (but be prepared to face the consequences!buhahahha) As for those of you who share this passion... lets get together and spread the joy! ;)
Now to talk about what i'll be writing about... basically it would include reviews and personal opinions on the various dramas and movies i watch, watched & to be watched (S.Korean mainly but Taiwanese & Japanese are also to be expected from time to time).
Which brings me to my next problem... where do i start.. was thinking i'll go in order of 1st watched drama, which would be Fullhouse, as it must be the case with all of u Sri Lankan SK fans! But on the other hand it would also be best to ride off with which ever is most fresh in mind, oozing that much more enthusiasm to the reviews!
So here's to New Beginnings! :D
